As automakers continue to push forward with electric vehicles, several states are planning to get rid of gas-powered cars altogether.
At least nine states so far have adopted a rule that would require all new vehicles to be emission-free by the year 2036.
The list includes California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Virginia, along with Washington D.C.
