Ahhh, finally, the weather is warming up, the grass is greener, and the anticipation of a long weekend is in full effect. That’s right, the unofficial start to Summer is upon us, Memorial Day. Okay, yes, Memorial Day is a great opportunity to spend time with family, friends, at the lake, and the extra day off definitely helps, but it’s so much more than all of that. For those of you who don’t know, I’m an active duty Army spouse and often on this holiday weekend I’m thanked for my support to the military and my husband is thanked for his service. While we’re humbled by and thankful for their appreciation, this weekend isn’t about the active duty or even the Veteran’s; it’s about those who lost their lives defending our freedoms. So before you fire up that grill, take the boat out on the lake, or just kick back and relax, think about those who are no longer with us.
For those of you who have lost someone, our hearts are with you.
