Amy Winehouse Would Be 'Fuming' Over New Biopic, Her Best Friend Says

Tyler James, a close friend of Amy Winehouse, criticizes the new biopic "Back to Black" directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, claiming it fails to capture the true essence of the late singer.

The film stars Marisa Abela as Winehouse and Jack O’Connell as her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, and has received mixed reviews.

James believes Winehouse would be "fuming" at how she is depicted in the film, stating it sugarcoats and glosses over her life. “They sugar-coated, glossed over her amazing life, and missed out huge chunks. It is not telling her story. So much more could have been told in this film that would have built up a better and fuller picture of who Amy was,” said James.

Despite some positive aspects, such as the portrayal of Winehouse's love for Fielder-Civil, James feels the film misses the mark in telling her story accurately.
