Remember last weekend when it was announced that Ben Affleck was going to be playing Batman in the upcoming Superman sequel and everyone FREAKED THE HECK OUT? And then of course Miley Cyrus did her thing at the VMAs last Sunday and suddenly there was something new for the internet to feast upon.
Well, I wanna steer the conversation back toward Ben Affleck, because for one thing, I think he’ll actually do a good job, and for another thing, there’s a very talented and very famous fellow who happens to agree with me: Justin Timberlake. Yep. “Ben Affleck as Batman. I like it,” he said in an interview with a New York City radio station. He went on, about his experiences co-starring with Affleck in the upcoming Runner Runner, “I worked with Ben last summer and I’ve seen his process. I think he’s a brilliant filmmaker. I think he’s an extreme talent so he could surprise a lot of people.”
But the best part came when he was asked if he be willing to play Robin to Affleck’s Batman: “Not a chance in hell. I ain’t playing Robin. I have no aspiration to ever be a superhero in a movie. Now VILLAIN! I’ll tell you the villain I want to play more than anything because I grew up loving Batman, funny enough, is the Riddler.”
JT said the Riddler was his favorite villain, calling him “proper crazy,” and then followed up with “if I’m gonna play crazy, I wanna play proper crazy… I’m ready. The Riddler. Gimme a call.” It’s not likely to happen, but the thought of a movie directed by Zack Snyder that features Superman, Batman as portrayed by Ben Affleck, AND Justin Timberlake as the Riddler (not to mention rumors of Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor)?
