The 2026 holiday travel season is expected to be the most expensive in a decade, with high jet fuel costs driving up domestic airfares significantly. Thanksgiving flights are averaging $402 (up 31% from last year), while Christmas flights average $452 (up 23%). Major metropolitan hubs like New York City and Miami are top choices, while international destinations like Tokyo and London are popular. To save money, travelers are advised to book early, avoid peak return days, and use AI tools for trip planning.
