Bumble Boosts Safety with New ID Verification

Bumble introduces new safety features, including ID verification and message review prompts, to attract safety-conscious users and combat slowing growth in the dating industry. The ID verification feature requires users to submit a government-issued ID to authenticate their profile, while the message review prompt helps filter inappropriate content. Bumble's efforts come amidst post-COVID slumps in the dating industry and increasing challenges in distinguishing real users from fake ones. The company's rival, Match Group, is also focusing on enhancing user experience and rebuilding trust with its new CEO, Spencer Rascoff.
