Lance Bass revealed on a podcast that NSYNC was formed out of spite after Chris Kirkpatrick felt snubbed by the Backstreet Boys. Kirkpatrick, who knew Howie Dorough from college, decided to create his own group and approached Lou Pearlman for funding. Fans were surprised by the origin story and praised Kirkpatrick for his initiative in creating the iconic '90s boy band.
