Miley Cyrus Says This Type of Therapy Saved Her Life

Miley Cyrus credits EMDR therapy for helping her overcome stage fright and anxiety, describing the experience as watching a movie in her mind. EMDR, developed by psychologist Francine Shapiro in 1987, treats trauma-related stress and other mental health issues using bilateral stimulation. The therapy involves reprocessing traumatic memories to reduce distress and can be beneficial for those experiencing depression, anxiety, or panic triggered by traumatic events. EMDR consists of eight phases in a session, focusing on identifying and desensitizing traumatic memories while instilling positive beliefs. Cyrus continues EMDR therapy to address other underlying issues beyond stage fright.
