Outhouse races, chili cook-offs, and fireworks!

Winter in the Lake George area is about to get a whole lot more exciting with the return of the Lake George Winter Carnival in 2025! And with the cold temps we've been having, we'll likely have a frozen lake for lots of this year's activities.

When and Where?

The carnival kicks off on the first weekend of February and continues every Saturday and Sunday through the end of the month. All the action takes place right in the heart of Lake George Village, with Shepard Park serving as the central hub of activity.

Events Galore

  • Cook-Offs: Warm up with some delicious samples at the chowder, chili, BBQ, and chicken wing cook-offs. It's a taste test you won't want to miss!

  • Outhouse Races: Ever seen an outhouse on skis? Now's your chance! This hilarious event is a crowd-pleaser, with teams racing their decorated outhouses for cash prizes.

  • ATV and Motorcycle Races: If you're into speed, catch the sanctioned races on the ice (weather permitting), or watch the thrills at Battlefield Park if the lake isn't frozen.

  • Polar Plunge: Brave the icy waters of Lake George for a good cause. It's not just a rush of adrenaline; it's also a chance to support local charities.

  • Fireworks: Each Saturday night, the sky over Lake George lights up with a spectacular fireworks display, adding magic to the winter evening.

Family Fun for the little ones (and the young at heart), there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained:

  • Pony rides, arts & crafts, and scavenger hunts are among the highlights.

  • The annual "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?" contest is back, so start planning your masterpiece now!

Don't Forget the Ice Bars! January and February 2025 are not just about the carnival; they're also about enjoying the coolest ice bars in the region. From the groovy ice festival at the Adirondack Pub & Brewery to the Polar Ice Bar at Fort William Henry, you can sip on unique cocktails in a truly unique setting.

Plan Your Visit

  • Stay Warm: Dress in layers because, let's face it, February in the Adirondacks can be chilly.

  • Parking: Arrive early to secure a parking spot close to the action, or consider using the shuttle services that are typically available.

  • Pre-sale Tickets: For some events like the cook-offs, pre-purchase your tickets online to avoid the sell-out disappointment.
