Albany man was arrested twice in one day for two separate incidents.

Brian Briggs managed to get himself arrested not once, but twice on Monday, according to Albany Police.

The first arrest happened after a report of a trespassing individual. When police arrived to Townsend Park Apartments they found Briggs who, according to reports, became uncooperative and combative with officers and refused to obey commands. From what the APD is saying, Briggs began to fight with the officers, placing his arm around one of their necks restricting his ability to breath and also punched another in the face. Once he was finally taken into custody, he was brought to Albany City Criminal Court and released under the supervision of Albany County Probation. Briggs was reportedly charged with -

  • Second-degree assault
  • Criminal obstruction of breathing
  • Resisting arrest
  • Obstructing governmental administration
  • Third-degree criminal trespass

Later in the day, police responded to another call at the same address. This time due to a report that there was an individual with a weapon. When police arrived they learned that Briggs had allegedly threatened a man with a handgun and demanded his belongings. After a short foot chase, police were able to apprehend him once again, and allegedly found a loaded handgun. Thankfully there were no reports of any injuries. This time, Briggs was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree robbery. He was brought back to Albany City Criminal Court and was remanded to Albany County Jail.
