New York State is set to implement new traffic safety regulations on February 16th, increasing penalties for various driving offenses. Violations such as passing a stopped school bus, reckless driving, and using a cell phone while driving will result in higher points on a driver's record. The time frame for points to reset will also be extended from 18 to 24 months. Senior associate Aaron Pam notes that challenging infractions will become trickier, with fewer opportunities to reduce points or avoid license suspension. The Department of Motor Vehicles emphasizes the importance of road safety and protecting all road users with these new regulations.
