Police are urging people to avoid the area
State Police are asking people to avoid an area of Poestenkill as they search for an armed man who is believed to be on foot.
Police are currently searching in the area of State Route 351 and Chain Mountain Way for 39-year-old James Cooper IV.
Cooper was last seen wearing green pants, sneakers and no shirt. Police say he is believed to be armed with multiple firearms.
Anyone who sees Cooper should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.
Residents are being asked to avoid the area and expect a heavy police presence while the search continues. Local schools have also been notified about the ongoing search.
