The heat index will have us up to over 100 degrees!

Summer officially started on Friday and Mother Nature is wasting no time with raising the temps in The Capital Region.

Monday's high is going to be near 97 degrees but with the heat index it will feel more like 105 outside and Tuesday is going to be pretty much the same. Schools all over the area have already given the students half days to ensure the safety of their students.

There are plenty of ways for you to stay cool and keep yourself, and other, safe during this extreme heat.

 - Drink plenty of fluids

 - Stay in air-conditioned rooms

 - Stay out of the sun 

 - Be sure to check on relatives and neighbors

 - If you work outside, take plenty of rest breaks in air-conditioning or a shaded area
